Control Systems notes for third-year B.Tech Electronics and Electrical Engineering students. Covers open-loop and closed-loop systems, transfer functions, block diagram reduction and signal flow graphs, the time response of first and second order systems, steady-state error, the Routh-Hurwitz criterion, root locus, Bode and Nyquist plots, gain and phase margins and basic PID controllers, with block diagrams, response graphs, solved numericals and exam questions. Includes 5 labelled diagrams: A closed-loop system compares the output with the input and corrects the error; Standard negative feedback system, with T(s) = G(s) / (1 + G(s)H(s)); Unit step response of a second-order system for different damping ratios ζ; Stability from where the closed-loop poles lie; Bode magnitude plot of a first-order lag: flat at first, then falling at −20 dB per decade past the corner.
