Quick answer
A school or coaching centre registers once with the institution form: fill in your details, verify your email with a 6-digit code, and the StudyZone team reviews the application. When it is approved, you get an email to set your password, then you open your private workspace and invite teachers and students with an email invitation or a join code. Teachers do not register separately: the institution invites them.
Who can join?
Three kinds of people use the institution side of StudyZone:
| Who | How they join | Role in the workspace |
|---|---|---|
| A school (Pre-primary to Class 12, any board) | Registers with the institution form as a School | Owner |
| A coaching centre (tuition, competitive exams, computer / IT, college or vocational courses) | Registers with the institution form as a Coaching institute | Owner |
| A teacher at a school or coaching centre | Accepts an email invitation from the owner | Teacher |
Students join with an invitation or a join code from their school or coaching.
Which account type should I choose?
- You run a school: register as a School. The person who fills the form becomes the owner, usually the principal or an administrator.
- You run a coaching centre or tuition classes: register as a Coaching institute. This also fits an independent tutor who teaches their own batches.
- You teach at a school or coaching that is already on StudyZone: do not register. Ask its owner to invite you as a teacher, then click Accept invitation in the email.
Tip: There is no separate teacher sign-up form. A teacher's permissions always come from the institution that invites them, and only the owner can invite teachers.
How do I register my institution?
- 1Open Register your institution, or choose School / Coaching on the sign-up page.
- 2Choose School or Coaching institute at the top of the form.
- 3Fill in your details, the institution's details, its location and its size (see the next section).
- 4Add your classes (school) or your courses and exams (coaching).
- 5Submit the form. StudyZone sends a 6-digit code to the email you entered.
- 6Enter the code. Only then is the application sent for review, and you get an application reference that starts with SZI-.
What information do I need?
| Section | Field | Required? |
|---|---|---|

Classes, subjects and batches
For a school
- Board (required): CBSE, ICSE, State Board or Other. If you choose Other, type the board name.
- Classes (at least one): pick from Nursery to Class 12, or select a range at once.
- Streams for Classes 11 and 12, and students and sections per class: optional.
For a coaching centre
- Categories (at least one): school tuition, competitive exams, computer and IT training, college or engineering coaching, professional or vocational training, or other.
- Courses, classes or exams (at least one row with a name): each row can also have a category, subjects and a student count.
- Batch structure: optional, for example "Morning and evening batches of 30 students".
Tip: Student counts per class or course are optional. If you fill them for every row, they must add up to the total number of students.
After approval, the owner creates the actual classes or batches inside the workspace (for example "Class 10 – A" or "JEE 2027 Morning") with an optional section, academic year and subjects.
How does verification and approval work?
- 1Email code: the 6-digit code is valid for 10 minutes. You can ask for a new one after a minute with Resend code. An application whose email is never verified is discarded after 24 hours.
- 2Review: the StudyZone team checks every application. Track it on Application status with your SZI- reference and email.
- 3Changes requested: if something needs fixing, you get an email with a secure link to update and resubmit the same application.
- 4Approved: you get an approval email. If you are new to StudyZone it includes a link to set your password, valid for 72 hours.
- 5Not approved: the status page shows the reason, if one was given.
If your email already belongs to a StudyZone account, the institution is linked to that account and you keep using your existing password.
What do I do after registration?
- 1Set your password from the approval email (new accounts only).
- 2Log in with School Login and open your institution from My institutions.
- 3In Batches, create your classes or batches.
- 4In Members, invite teachers by email and create join codes for students. You choose the role, the batch, how many days a code lasts and how many people can use it.
- 5In Settings, update the description, website and logo, decide whether student and teacher uploads need approval, and choose how student names appear on the leaderboard.
Tip: A join code is shown only once, right after you create it. Copy it or share its join link straight away.
Which features can each role use?
| Feature | Owner | Teacher | Student |
|---|---|---|---|
| Settings, batches, inviting teachers, reports and activity log | Yes | No | No |
| Invite and approve students, assign them to batches | Yes | in their batches | No |
| Share notes with chosen classes or batches | Yes | Yes | Yes |
| Approve uploaded notes | Yes | Student uploads | No |
| Create, schedule and grade MCQ tests | Yes | for their batches | No |
| Take tests and see results, answer reviews and weak topics | No | No | Yes |
| Announcements and assignments | Post | Post to their batches | Read |

Notes in a workspace are private to its members and never use download credits. Your account's own StudyZone features, such as Focus Mode and the Study Planner, work as they did before.
Troubleshooting
| Problem | What to do |
|---|---|
| The code email did not arrive | Check spam and promotions folders, then press Resend code after a minute. |
| "Your verification code has expired" | Codes last 10 minutes. Request a new one and enter it straight away. |
| "Too many incorrect attempts" | Request a new code and type it carefully. |
| "That institution username is already taken" | Choose a different username, for example add your city. |
| "An application from this email address is already being reviewed" | Do not apply again. Check the status with your SZI- reference. |
| The password link has expired | Use Forgot password on the login page with the same email. |
| A teacher or student cannot see the workspace | Check their join request in Members. People who join with a code may need approval and a batch first. |
